AQA AS Biology is perhaps the most pitiful subject I have ever done, after GCSE I thought my knowledge and understanding of biology and biological systems would be furthered, short answer- no.

It appears to be the same old story as GCSEs, 90% application questions (which anyone could do), 5% ridiculous guessing questions and 5% knowledge based questions.

Learning mark schemes appears to be the only way I can succeed with this subject, the manner in which questions are asked and need to be answered is truly pedantic and foolish. The grade boundaries are ridiculously low, I got an A in the mock exam with 58/72 !

I fear going into a largely knowledge-based degree (medicine) with such a shoddy knowledge of biology- just an ability to answer stupid exam questions.
