Help Please

Trying to answer a parallel line equation. I just can't get the answer right.
Question is:
y= -x+4 that passes through (-1,-3)
I get -3=1+C
C=-4 Answer should be y= -x-2 Surely -1*-1 is a +1
Where am I going wrong.
Thanks a lot,
Nigel
Whole question is:
Find the equation of the line parallel to y= -x+4 that passes through (-1,-3)
Thanks
Nigel
parallel to y=-x+4 means gradient of the line is -1 (same)

So your line has a general form of y=-x+c

Now use the (-1,-3) to find C. You need to substitute the x and y, -3=-1*(-1)+c or -3=1+c or c=-4

Therefore, your final equation of the line becomes y=-x-4
Thanks a lot thats the answer I got too. The new edexcel Target Grade 7 just came out and the answer is -x-2. I just couldn't get that. Thanks so much for your help
