Tips for application letters?

I am applying to be a prefect / head at my school, in the form of a letter. The letter is really important because they choose the best 3 people and only interview those three? I would be very grateful if anyone could give me any tips?

Remember that everyone, every year gets stuck wondering what to write.
Write about your contributions so far (academic definitely counts) and anything you think you want to have achieved by being prefect/head.

Try doing it in 3 paragraphs:
- 1 - about you. what have you done that will impress them?
- 2 - why you want it? What is motivating you and making you want to be a prefect?
- 3 - Why you would be good for the role. What specific skills and experiences will make you stand out? What makes you better than the rest?
