# Edexcel Mechanics M1 2018 Unofficial Mark Scheme watch

1. hoping for low grade bounderies did very avergae!
2. That was an awful paper..
3. MOB
4. (Original post by NP2803)
Think you’ve f’d up tbh cause I’m seeing others get 6.66 so couldn’t have all made the same misltake
Definitely 6.66, and discussing with a few others in my class had the same.
5. For question 2 the value of P is 6.66 because the friction acts up the slope as it’s the minimum force required to keep it in equilibrium
6. (Original post by officialjulie1)
again, I got 9 people and not tryna be cocky but I’m 100% right I triple checked so you’ve just bagged urself 7 marks bud
Nvm, just checked, I forgot to put -250g on the left side, the answer is 6 ffs
7. (Original post by NP2803)
I got 6.66 and other people did to so not really sure now
Mate, I got 6.66 and I’m sure that’s right Cus the rest is simple it’s the fact that it said find the least force on P so you know that it was on point of sliding down
8. (Original post by Wisdom2)
P = 16.4
Tension in C = 735N Tension in D = 1323N
velocity of P = 1/4u
Velocity of Q = 5/4u
Lift Q part a 3050N b) 6 people
Yeah I am 100% of 1a and 1b

hopeful 6 people is right too!
9. for question 2, did you guys just find the normal reaction first and then subbed it into the equation for resolving forces down the slope?
10. (Original post by officialjulie1)
If you didn’t get 5.42 you must’ ****ed up with sin or cos somewhere, maybe done them the wrong way around, I do these questions in my sleep and it was defo 5.42
I got a different answer if I typed everything separately (13 something) and the 5.42 if I put it in all together - I crossed out the 5.42 rip
11. (Original post by Wester123)
7 people in lift i got
i got 9 lmao
12. What the actual f was that paper....
Here's what I got but pretty sure most of them are wrong:
3.75
2 = 31.1
2898
24
t= 0.1
33 people (wrong)
34.9
a= 8.2
Pretty sure I flopped that
13. I got 6.7 for P
14. I swear it said find the max value of P not minimum?
15. DAMN IT i put 31.1 and i had 6.66 aswell, just guessed and went for the wrong one

Lift was 6 people no? it was like 6.9... so it had to be 6?
16. (Original post by Exam stress12345)
How did people find it in general?
hard
17. (Original post by Jmcox15)
I got the lift as 7 people as i had 7.76 people so i rounded down
Same! I feel like we forgot the mass of the lift when considering the Acceleration. How many marks will I loose?
18. (Original post by sgsb0y)
I got 9 for the lift

10000-100-75gx= (75x 250)3

EDIT: nvm it’s 6
I did exactly that as well!!. I got 9 point something so I rounded down to 9
19. (Original post by Wester123)

Did you remember to change the 20 degree angle to 50 degrees?
