Is a bachelor's of education- history from Durham ok for secondary?

Id like to one day teach history at secondary school however I would like to go to Durham university, I doubt id achieve the entry requirements for Durhams history course therefore I'm interested in the bachelor's of education- history. Would I be able to teach history at secondary level with this despite not having a dedicated history degree?
To teach a subject, you need at least 50% of the course to cover that subject. Without knowing the modules etc, it's hard to say but I would imagine that the course is designed for people who want to teach! Why not contact Durham for more advice, or ask other unis with PGCE programs if they'd accept this course?

At the moment, history is still one of the more competitive subjects for Secondary PGCEs, but I can't really see the point of Durham's degree if it doesn't prepare you to teach history!
