GCSE Edexcel Mathematics - Inequalities

Helloooo,

I have a question about inequalities. Do we need to be able to use “set notation”???
As in
x E [-3 , 4) to replace -3 <= x < 4

then, no. I believe that's NOT part of GCSE spec. But it doesn't hurt to understand interval notation.

The above post might be better understood (or be more familiar) in how it actually looks like:

x[3,4)x \in [-3,4) is the same as saying 3x<4-3 \leq x < 4.

The [ bracket means you include that bound in the interval, meaning x CAN be equal to it
whereas ( bracket excludes it, meaning x CANNOT be equal to it.

Never was required in my Edexcel exam. Using inequalities is fine, and I don't remember set notation appearing in any questions, either.
