in UCAS, if I apply to 3yr BA, can it turn into Foundation offer?

Hello Westminster. My first time doing UCAS. If I want to apply to animation(W615) and I do not get in, will there possibly be an offer by Westminster for the foundation course in animation?

OR do I only get offered foundation in art with animation if I put that course number into UCAS (W618)?

I hope this makes sense.

Universities can always offer an alternative course/entry point if they don’t think that you’re suitable for the course you listed on ucas initially.

I don’t think that westminster has an active rep on tsr who can say whether this is their normal practice - ring up admissions this week and ask them directly about it to make sure.

Hi there

It's great to hear you're considering the University of Westminster. If you apply for the Animation degree and you don't meet the entry criteria you'll be automatically considered for the Foundation Year instead. So don't worry, I would apply for the Animation degree (W615) in the first instance and we can always move you to Foundation if required.

Best of luck

Kim, thank you for your reply! I did just notice the W615 is a 2D animation based course, so I will be looking into the 3D one.
UPDATE: I cannot find a 3D animation course at Westminster. The closest is the Computer Games Dev course.

Hi there

It's great to hear you're thinking about studying Animation at Westminster.

The Animation course includes all major animation techniques, so if you have a particular interest in 3D animation then you would be able to specialise from year 2 onwards. Please check out our work online by searching for "Westminster animation " on Google ... this might help to give you a better impression of the range of the course and the techniques that we explore.

Best wishes

Kim, thank you for your response. just looked at the animation work. they look good. I have a couple more questions-

What software is used on the W615 animation course, in addition the the noted Adobe Suite, Dragonframe, TVPaint?
Are Maya, Mari, zbrush, Nuke, MudBox, Houdini...etc offered to learn and use?

Computer games course has access to motion capture. Is it easy to bring that into the second year for the animation course as item to "specialise"/ learn?

Foundations course prior to Animation BA- description states there are modules to pick in your field. modules are not listed. Can you elaborate on this? my field is animation, will I be able to start using animation programs in the foundations course?

thank you!
