What did you all get for the trig equation values? I got x as 29.1
Yep I got equivalent, but I left it as -ln(5/4) instead of ln0.8. Do you think that’s ok I left the minus?

Did anyone else get V = 20,000e^(ln(0.8)×t) for the model?
I got y is smaller and equal to 3
Original post by mohamadjamil03
Pretty sure I got that it was less than or equal to 3, don't completely remember though
What did people get for the differentiating arcsin question?
I got those answers for 13. Think its fine

Answers that I have. I might have copied some wrong so be wary of that
1) 3
2B) 0.236
3A) A = 10 N - 3
B) X < -1
4A) (1/2) + (1/16)x + (3/256)x^2
4Bi) -14 ii) (-1,2)
5A ) 2(x+1)^2 + 7
5C) Moves by (2, -3) ii) Range Y<=3
6A) 18.4, -18.4, 161.57, -161.57 but to 1dp
6B) 6.6
7A) 20000(0.8)^t
7B) 2147.5 which is close to 2000 so accurate to 10%
11C) 165 minutes 57 seconds. I did 24 + 20000(0.8)^t 16 times. I'll work it out on excel to make sure what the answer was.
12B) 3.18
13C) A = -1 B = 9/10. I think A is wrong, if someone can give me the question I'll work it out
14A) 1/8
14B) Y = x / 8 so the line was a tangent to the curve at (0,0)
I’m going to jump the gun right now and say
A* =85
A=65
B=50

Grade boundary predictions for this paper:
A*=88
A= 70
B=58

Its correct

Oh cool, spent too long on it
I think I got 3.something for this too.
Original post by _gcx
The one with |10e^(-0.25x) sin(x)|. You wanted the second maxima wihch was π+arctan4\pi + \arctan 4, giving a maximum height of about 3.175m? Can't quite remember the numbers.
Do you want to set this up in a new thread so that people can see the answers a little easier? Please let me know adn we can set up an unofficial markscheme and promote it for you guys!

model question i did: V = 20000xr^t
16000 = 20000r^1
r=0.8

= V=20000x0.8^t

- model is reliable as 20000x0.8^10 = 2147 which is close to the true value

- for car B keep the model the same apart from increase the value of 0.8 to something like 0.9 for a slower decrease.

running question:

first 6km = 6+6+6+6+(6x1.05)+((6x1.05)x1.05)
= 36 mins 55 secs

time for total = 24 mins (first 4 km) + 6(1-1.05^16)/-0.05
= 24 mins + 141.9445 mins
= 165 mins + 0.9445 x 60 seconds
= 165 mins and 57 seconds
can someone post the working out to the integration question :/
ohhhh lmao im dumb, thank you though

9/5 and -12/5 were partial fractions, -24/5 and 33/10 were the answers to ln coefficients

Well that was... interesting
Out of all 3 a B was 155, which is just under 52 per paper and C was 126/300 so 42 per paper. If I get EVERYTHING I did right (which I wont), I'll have just have a C, based on Last years boundaries obvs. They would have to bring it down. I mean ffs, a guy in my school got an offer from Camebridge and 1) Found it quite difficult and 2) Didnt finish the last question. If that doesnt tell you they need to be lowered, I dont know what will

What were last year's grade boundaries?
(edited 4 years ago)
Lmao are you mad. It was 77% last year and this years paper was so much harder. Stop chatting

I got that too!

What the hell was that exam? :frown:
Can guarantee is wont be this high

I set I set it all up and got the range then went to integrate is and yea just didn’t have the time will still get like 2 marks though hopefully

feel the exact same way man. Found A and B but didn't integrate. Did whatever working I could for the last 2. Im not sure what to feel because I found it ok just couldn't finish.
