Gcse Chemistry Help

A brown solution is formed when chlorine water is added to a solution of sodium iodide. Write the ionic equation for the reaction. Help please!!! Thank you
So this is a displacement reaction and as the chlorine is more reactive than iodine it will displace it so you will then have sodium chloride (table salt) and iodine and water. The ions involved are Cl- and Na+ so you can write this as: Cl2 + 2Na+ -> 2NaCl
The chlorine has no charge on it when it is a reactant because it is only dissolved in the water not bonded to it.
