The Student Room Group

Maths a level

In a goal of the season competition, participants pay an entry fee of ten pence. they are then asked to rank ten goals in order of quality

the organisers select their 'correct' order at random and they offer a prize of £100 000 to anybody who matches their order. There are no other prizes.

i) what is the probability of a participants order being the same as that of the organisers

ii)how much does a particpant expect to win or lose with each entry?

iii)5 million people enter the competition. how much profit do the organisers expect to make?#

i understand part i) but from then on i get stuck!

Answers are
ii) lose 7.2p
iii) £362 000 (to the nearest £1000)

Can anyone help please?
thanks
