Passage question

Please refer to the attachment.
Can someone please explain why the answer is D?
Not too sure how point 1. "Impairment in memory may cause worry which leads to lack of sleep" is a weakness of the argument.
The argument states lack of sleep causes memory impairment. Not the inverse.

Assuming point 1 is correct i.e. it is the memory impairment that is causing lack of sleep rather than the other way, then I would agree that point 1 identifies a weakness. But, I find this a little strange because the question should have been which of the following weakens the above argument rather than which identifies a weakness.
