Area of a triangle = 1/2bh so in this case 24. Because the area of the rectangle is 5 times this you know the area of the rectangle is 24 x 5 which is 120. Now to work out the width you need to divide 120 by 12 to give you 10

Area of triangle: 1/2 8 x 6 = 24
We know that the area of the rectangle is 5 times greater than the area of the triangle. therefore we can say that the area of the rectangle is 5 x 24 = 120.
The area of the rectangle is l x w
120 = 12 x w
rearranging to make w thesubject of the formula:
w = 120/12
w = 10

idk someone gave the entire answer. that was a hint tho. it wasn't even a full hint. if u think that's an answer then try writing it down in ur next test and see how it goes.. will just get one mark out of like 3.
