A Level Chemistry Help!!

Hey guys! I attempted this question and got it wrong. I checked the mark scheme and can’t make any sense of it for the life of me!! Could anyone please help me and try to explain what’s going on? I’ve also attached the mark scheme. Thanks

You have 2 of Nh4 in addition to SCN- with NH3 Ligands around the Ni

So we know that it must form and octrahedral with 6 coordinate bonds, adding this with the (NH4)2 is 8 bonds

So just solve each ratio then make it equal to 8. This allows you to find y

We know X is 4 because that’s what balances it out. Idek if this makes sense but that’s how I’d go about it man 👍
