YR 11 CHAT THREAD-2021-2022 :banana:

ahhhhh we made it besties, we're at our final yr of secondary school, how is everybody feeling? Talk about revision , share tears together as we prepare for our GCSES (vomits)

English Language (AQA)
Maths (Edexcel Higher)
Combined Science (OCR B Higher)
RE (WJEC)
Spanish (AQA Higher)
History (Edexcel)
Computer Science (OCR)

In my spare time I love listening to music and reading books
I'm aiming for 7's and 8's but I'd be happy to just pass tbh haha
Not really sure what I wanna do after this year but I can't wait to finish early this year woo
Top revision technique would probably be doing practice questions and then going through them with my teachers or watching videos because I'm a visual learner

Soooo yeah that's me :smile:

In my spare time I like sleeping and crying 😌
I want all 8s and 9s with an exception of a 4 for art.
I want to do bio, psychology and maths at a level and then a psychology related degree and my favourite revision technique is procrastinating for 6000 hours on TSR and instagram
So that's me I'm a mentally unstable guitar player woooo

For my GCSEs I’m taking :
AQA English Lit + Lang
AQA Triple science
Edexcel maths
V.CERT NCFE Health and fitness
V.CERT NCFE Graphics
AQA geography

I really don’t know what to expect, but grade wise I’d love to achieve 7s and above (very ambitious, I know).

In my free time I like to barricade myself in my room, embrace the hermit inside of me and spend hours studying various, irrelevant topics. I probably waste a lot of time doing this, but it’s fulfilling nonetheless.

My main goal is to achieve a 6 or a 7 in maths as it’s always been a struggle for me - I got a 4 for my mocks while my other subjects were at 7s :/

My top revision tip would to incorporate elements of revision into your everyday life. For science and geography this could be watching a documentary on topics you’ve covered in class and for french you can teach yourself a ton of fancy insults to throw at your annoying siblings... muahhaha.

Anyway, good luck to anyone taking their GCSEs this year! I wish you all the best. :wink:

Well I'm posting on behalf of my daughter, because I don't think she has the slightest desire to be on TSR knowing that her mother has been on here for 17 years!

We're a home educating family, so she's doing her I/GCSEs as a private candidate.

Although she's Year 11 now, she already did 4 subjects last year, because we home edders tend to split things up a bit. This year she's doing :

Edexcel IGCSE English Language B (in November)
Edexcel IGCSE English Literature
Edexcel GCSE Psychology
CIE IGCSE Computer Science
OCR GCSE Ancient History

In her spare time she reads, writes anime fan fic, creates art, and plays on her PS4 & VRs

We're hoping for somewhere in the region of 7-9 for the English subjects and the Ancient History. For Computer Science and Psychology I'm not sure yet. 6+ I hope. She's not even started any Psychology yet so she doesn't yet know herself how she's going to fare with it.

For the subjects she already took in Year 10 (Classical Civilisation, Biology, Maths, History) she got 9, 6, 6, 6

After this year she wants to go on to sixth form college to do A Levels in Classical Civilisation, English Language, and Psychology, and a Diploma in Criminology.

I don't know that she really has a top revision technique. She works best in 20 minute stretches of time followed by 10 minute breaks, rather than trying to work for hours, as she gets distracted. I dunno if that might be useful for anybody else who can't focus for long stretches of time.

In my spare time I like to read an inspirational book and also go for a bike ride.

I am aiming for 7,8,9 hopefully I get them.

I'm hoping for at least all 7s across the board, but in maths, geography, chemistry and business I'm aiming for 9s. I enjoy playing cricket, listening to country music and reading in my spare time :biggrin:

After this year I'd like to go on to A Levels, in maths, further maths and then two more subjects which I haven't yet decided.

My top revision tip has got to be to make sure you relax between revision sessions - if you don't have the right frame of mind, you won't be able to revise!!
