It is the long hot summer of 1898 and some schoolgirls in long flowing white dresses are gathered at the usual rock when Ms Agutter, the local barber-woman turns up and starts snipping at their hair. A few girls go missing and the rest is history. Directed by Peter Leer, this a landmark movie in the art cinema of Australia, which is a limited field. Contains scenes of hair cutting which some viewers may find distressing.
