Writing a song

Can anyone give me any tips to write a song lyrics-wise?
I'm trying to make it a sorta sad-nostalgic song

I usually write lyrics when I'm feeling upset or when I have something specific in my head that I wanna get off my chest. Start by thinking what exactly you want your song to be about. Is it a song about heart-break? Missing old friends? Do you want to tell a story? Do you want to focus on the emotions instead? Then you can either just write whatever comes to mind or brainstorm some phrases that you like and then write. Remember that not every couplet has to rhyme. Think about the structure- verse-chorus? Verse-chorus with a bridge/intro/outro? Strophic? Do you want the choruses to have slightly lyrics? Then clean up the lyrics and mold them into the most suitable structure. Have fun :smile:
