Volunteering and experience

Hello,
My son is eager to study veterinary medicine. He is yet to sit his National 5 (Scottish Exam Board). He is eager to gain as much experience as possible in animal handling. I was wondering if anyone who is in Scotland could please recommend any organisations etc he can contact. The few he has attempted to contact haven’t replied as yet.
He is hoping to apply to Cambridge.

Many thanks for any help you may have to offer
I'm not in Scotland and it may be a bit late this year but for lambing in Spring use the National Sheep Association website to find placements, don't have to be near any farms as a lot of farmers have free accommodation and meals etc and it's very good experience to have for vet med. Otherwise it is just a case of contacting as many places as possible - calling or going in person works better than emailing, some places won't check emails and it can easily go into spam or get forgotten about.

Thank you ☺️
Take a look at https://wwoof.org.uk/en/ - my daughter got livestock (mostly cow) experience via them and they provided accommodation. It was in Devon.
