Physician associate Msc Apprenticeship

hey does anyone know anything about the physician associate apprenticeships? I have found that there offered by Keele University and Queens Mary University. Im currently studying Human Biology in first year (will graduate in 2025) so does anyone know if there are plans for more apprenticeships to open up as I think this a recent opportunity, and would absolutely love to do this!
I don’t think there’s any up and running now but by the time u graduate there deffo will be a couple
I've just been told that only 5 NHS trusts will be running the apprentice and they're all outside London.

For 2024 you should hopefully have quite a few to choose from for universities: QMUL, Greenwhich, Keele are very likely to have their programmes active. A number of other universities are onboard but may still be sorting out their curriculum and not sure when they’ll advertise on their websites: UEL, Edgehill, Derby, Sheffield Hallam, Central Lancashire, Plymouth, Worcestershire

For NHS Trusts, any primary, secondary or tertiary care Trust can take on the apprenticeship, as long as they’re able to secure placements. For primary and tertiary care organisations this would likely involve placement agreements with other organisations.

Hi there. I can only speak about QMUL, they confirmed to me just over a month ago that their MSc PA Apprenticeship scheme will only run from 2026. It may run from Jan or Sept 2026, or both. Not sure yet.

Also, for QM you need to be already employed at a Trust and they must be willing to fund you and host you for the duration of the placement/course. Last time I checked (end of 2023), the course runs for up to 3 years. Best go on their website here to have a look. The dates on there may be out of date based on what they told me in April. If you contact them, they would be able to share more details.

This is the second time they're pushing the date back. I wouldn't bank on them. I'm also going the MSc route

Stoke on trent have also now cancelled their programme. I'd advise you to go to uni.

Seems like they holding back for now...maybe its due to the GMC regulation and stuff coming and want to align the apprenticeship course better, once the dust has settled, or there are other issues (funding, etc) we are not aware of, just yet.

Okay. But what happens to cohorts from last year already on the course? We just got unlucky

I have no idea about other uni's. I know QMUL haven't even launched their programme, so they have no cohorts on their PA Apprenticeship Scheme. They are still running their normal MSc programme as usual.

I won’t be applying until 2026 anyway as I don’t graduate for another year and then I will be travelling. so hopefully there will be opportunities for it by then
Hey ,this is sharish iam international student currently enrolled in masters in York st john university. Recently I came to notice that there is apprenticeships program in Queen Mary university and I should try for next year if possible. I think so its great opportunity to study with no fee and work in nhs.
