Do you think that is cruel, given that it is a spider, though?

yes they do react to heat and injury, so it seems like they do. although they don't have much in the way of complex long term memory so they can't rly feel emotional hurt
Nope.

I can't imagine me picking one up carefully and placing it outside though.

So would you just vacuum it given that, and would you think you were being cruel in doing so?

To get rid of fruit flies, you have to get rid of all your rotting fruit. Then put out a shallow bowl of water, pour in some white wine vinegar to attract them, and a couple of drops of washing up liquid. They all fly to the bowl and can't escape because the washing up liquid affects the surface tension of the water.

Spiders are predators who catch other bugs in webs and then suck all the fluids out of them.

yh, they eat to live, they don't just kill things cos they're too lazy and scared to move them harmlessly. and two wrongs don't make a right. you must set an example for the spiders.
