I don’t get how they get x to be that for the first answer whee e does the cos theta I and sin Thetis come from

If you draw a vertical line from P down to the x-axis, you should be able to find the x coordinate of P from the resulting right angled triangle. Then you need to find a second right angled triangle that will give you the difference between the x coordinates of P and Q.
