What happens to unfinished exam essays?

I finished my history A-level exam, but could only complete 1 out of 2 essays; each were 30 marks, and I completed the content/source analysis question. I'm now incredibly concerned about the possibility of receiving no marks, or actively minus marks (if that's possible?) for not completing a question.

**Although** I did make an in-depth essay plan for the second question, with supporting facts, dates and historians (and arguments for each aspect), I just lacked the time to put the words together. Am I completely screwed on this?

Well I don't know exactly how they mark the essays but if you made this detailed plan they should hopefully give you some credit for it. Obviously it won't be a high mark but maybe still something? They definitely wouldn't minus any marks from your paper though!

do you mean there were 3 questions and you only answered 2 of them? if that's the case, you might be okay but you'd really need to do well in the other papers. they wouldn't minus marks though, so there is no need to worry about that. they'll probably be more sympathetic if you have a good plan because it's evidence you've thought out the question. for the other exams, if you are running out of time, finish in the middle of a paragraph if you have to, but write a conclusion - answering all of them even if it isn't in full is much better than only doing some, just make sure to write a conclusion for each!
