hello, i am doing econ in durham. I want to ask how can i get a internships , what skills, extra curricular , volenteering etc... looks good in a cv for a internship

Get involved in your college or society that you know and take leadership roles. If you can try to do have some work experience and then apply to as many places as you can, it’s likely to get many rejections but just remember that you need only 1 job.
If you are going into second year in September I would suggest start looking for possible places that you might want to apply to
