Are you allowed/is it okay to write "SA:V ratio" instead of "surface area to volume ratio" in A-level OCR Biology exams (or Chemistry tbh)?

yes that is perfectly fine

Not 100% sure and depends on exam mark scheme to exam mark scheme even on the same exam board
All thr advice I've been given is write it out in full and then add it in brackets the abbreviation and then in that question use that abbreviation
It totally depends but it isn't worth losing marks on information you know
