LLB Law and International Relations and the Qualifying Law Degree

I plan on going to the University of Edinburgh to study Law and International Relations come September. As my degree is a joint honours, it makes leaving with a Qualifying Law Degree a bit more sticky.

On their website, Edinburgh say:

'Our LLB programmes are accredited by the Law Society of Scotland.

However, this combined honours programme does not include all courses required to proceed to the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice and (after that) to the legal profession in Scotland.

It may be possible, in discussion with the Law School, for you to meet these requirements by studying additional courses.'

I have a couple questions:
1. Can virtually anyone choose to study these 'additional courses', or is it a more selective process?

2. Are these 'additional courses' available modules you can choose to study (i.e. you can pick all the necessary modules to graduate with a Qualifying Law Degree) or are they not included in the modules list?
