Help with personal statement for chemical engineering

hi! I'm an international student that will be applying soon for 2024 entry and I'm having a really hard time writing the personal statement. I don't really have ECs. And I haven't been able to find any relavent work experience, in my country there are next to no opportunities for students coming out of high school. The only shadowing/work experience available is in hospitals for med students :frown: Does anyone think it would be beneficial for me to to just do the hospital work experience anyways or is it a waste? I am thinking of focusing around the drug production/pharmaceutical side of chem eng - any advice is welcome.

You don't need work experience - its an academic degree.

Do some relevant reading so that you can mention some relevant topics that interest you - Fluid mechanics, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Organic Chemistry etc - ask you Chemistry teacher for some ideas of what to read.

Also - do some of these 'Moocs' - short (free) online courses - they will also give you some idea of topics outside your A levels :

Wow thank you so much!! I've been stressing a lot about that because whenever I see personal statement videos it seems like everyone has shadowed someone or done some work experience lol. Thank you for the Moocs, I'll look into them. By any chance do you have any advice for my lack of ECs?

You don't need any 'hobbies' etc for this sort of degree - Unis just want to see that you are interested in the subject you are applying for and you have done some reading/thinking beyond your A level syllabus.

Perhaps this could help for the personal statement
