University of Reading Official Accommodation Thread 2024

We noticed there have been a lot of questions and chats about accommodation on our forum recently, so we thought we'd make a new mega thread for 2024 entry to find out all things accommodation, ask any questions you may have, and chat with fellow applicants about accommodation!

Here at the University of Reading, we have loads of accommodation both on campus and off campus, and we offer an accommodation guarantee for people who make us their firm choice and apply for accommodation by 1 August.

We'll add any useful links we find to this post, which will hopefully make life easier for you all!

Thank you for this. Is the Whitley Street area a good area to live in terms of proximity to the Whiteknights Campus? If sharing a rented house (with 8 others) with a private landlord what sort of monthly rent is expected per person? A ball park figure will help greatly!

Hi @maktoub2000,
Whitley Street is fairly close to campus and the town centre so definitely a good bet, but is a little ways away from the main student areas around Donnington Gardens, Blenheim Road and Grange Avenue so will likely be a little quieter in terms of students. Prices can range depending on the house, landlord and number of people, but in my experience rent prices (not including bills) average around 450/month, some a little higher depending on the house!
Hope this helps

Hello, I secured my first year accommodation today and will be in a premium shared bathroom room in Bridges Hall. The info says to bring flat sheets as fitted sheets won't fit the beds. But the size given - 3ft by 6ft3 - sounds fairly standard for a single. Just wondered if anyone had managed to make fitted sheets work after all? I can't really be bothered with hospital corners!

Are you still looking for accommodation in Reading that houses other Reading students but is cheaper than on-campus?

Just keep adding options until the 'Next' button appears. It's after around 7 or 8 options, I think.
