OCR A CHEMISTRY A LEVEL referencing

We got a task today in class about referencing and the task to write about the history of the atom. Is this for any purpose for the actual a level? Like does it play a part in our final grade or if we pass the class or not? Would it be in the practical endorsement part of the spec? I’m not sure please help if you are also an OCR A chem student and if you had to do referencing, as well as what purpose it serves

It is not in the PAG https://www.ocr.org.uk/Images/598371-practical-activities-support-guide.pdf
But it is useful for practice - in any PAG where you do research (PAG 12 especially, but any risk assessments for the reactants or products in organic, reflux and distillation)
Everything you do has a purpose and is useful

For ocr a Chemistry alevel practical 12 is a research practical what would you be doing, in terms of what is the research about and would they provide me with a topic to research and only then and there in the lab I’d be researching that specified topic? What is that practical about?
