The answer suggests its something to do with the quadratic formula. So can you combine terms/rearrange the equation and transform it into a quadratic?

When you add fractions in arithmetic, you try to make the denominators have the same number. It's the same concept for adding algebraic fractions, try to make the denominators have the same expression.
