Oxford physics and philosophy

Hi I’m in year 12 and thinking to apply for physics and philosophy as it seems like the perfect cross between stem/humanities for me. There aren’t a lot of uni choices for this course though and I’m thinking to apply to Oxford, but the acceptance rates are kind of scaring me off…(14% interviewed, 7% accepted, 14 places overall)

Does anyone know why acceptance rates for this course are so high? And how to increase chances?
I believe most Oxford colleges also consider applicants for the main physics course as well as physphil, and I don't believe the acceptance rates reflect those who were interviewed for physphil and made an offer for physics (not even sure if the interview rates consider those ultimately given an offer for physics and not physphil as part of it). I think the picture is a bit brighter than it seems on the surface as a result, as a number of those who apply will still get an offer from Oxford (just potentially for physics instead).
