Yeah they send them off to external markers.

I was so happy with my answer thinking I cooked made an executive summary, summarised the benefits then gave a detailed issues of both firms individually. I decided against a next steps since it wasn't an email to a supervisor or anything like that.

When proof reading I misread the question as give my opinion on which one they should go for. So I made a quick heading based on the facts on my opinion what the client should go for in their best interest and added a sentence to my executive summary.

I reread the thing yesterday night and realised I wasn't meant to do that. Ruined the whole objectivity now trying to delude myself saying that they may see it as me fitting within their values which was verified by my favourite therapist chatgpt 🤣

It sounds like your recommendation and justification was only a fairly small part of your total answer so you might still be OK. Even though the task instructions said nothing about it, the invite email literally said "in your written response you will need to justify a recommended course of action". I think it's really quite terrible that they said that because it almost misled me too although perhaps a preliminary recommendation and justification would've enhanced my answer, despite not being asked for.

Anyway, it's done now and we should hear back quite soon given that interviews are next week.

Oh wow to me that sounds like next steps like planning a meeting etc, but that wouldnt make sense because we were writing an email to a trainee and they're not rlly the ones to send that stuff too.

So maybe we did need to make an opinion and option they should go with. Maybe I wasn't cooked after all

I made an opinion at the end too! from speaking to my careers advisor at my school who helped me prep she advised me to do this so i don’t think you’re cooked at all!

everyone who progressed to the next stage (the written case study) has completed it by now. if you havent heard back from them its likely you didnt get shortlisted for the next stage
