GCSE

If I'm re-sitting most of my GCSE because of difficult circumstances...
Will universities be able to see that I have re-sat my exams...?
Is this a big NO for them?
Do they still accept re-takes for GCSE as long as you get good grades?

Hi there,
Firstly, if you’re resitting exams due to what universities tend to call ‘mitigating circumstances’, you shouldn’t be disadvantaged.
Many universities take into account that there are some situations that can’t be helped as long as you explain this on your uni application.
With that being said, it shouldn’t really matter if they see you have resat or not!
I’m not an expert on this however as long as you get high grades in your after school education (like college, sixth form, apprenticeship etc) then you should still be fine.
Make sure you find out what the university is looking for, some might have other requirements, but mitigating circumstances as you have mentioned shouldn’t disadvantage you as it’s not your fault.
Good luck!

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I knew someone who had to resit A levels to get a grade on his uni offer entry requirements and he got into a russel group uni just fine
If you want to resit a GCSE, it should be fine! Generally, unis gloss over GCSE grades (unless you're applying to oxbridge or super prestigious unis) and tend to focus on A level grades. As long as you have enough GCSES that fit the basic entry requirements of most unis, everything should be fine
