Hi babe! I got an 8 in GCSE literature and I am happy to give some advice.

Macbeth:
You need to know the plays inside out and think about why the writer has done this.
Making mind maps for themes/characters is extremely helpful - also helps you make overarching links.
Remember to embed your quotations into your sentences - demonstrates great knowledge.
People tend to make great points in lesson, do not underestimate these, write as many notes as you can in lesson and review them later.
Consistency is key. I would recommend every 2 to 3 days writing an essay on Macbeth as practice does make perfect.
If essays are too much essay plans are also very helpful and quick.
Blurting your quotations to match analysis.
Flashcards of quotes with analysis at the back.

Frankenstein
Just focus on the techniques Shelley is using
Read about her as a Gothic writer
Focus on the sublime nature of the text and how science is misused for danger.
Similar revision techniques as Macbeth
Don't forget to include the overall message that Shelley is trying to pursue - contrast between curiosity and ambition with compassion and caution.
Think - Why did this all happen to Victor? The use of his scientific pursuit leading him to demise.

If you need anything else, give me a shout lovely!!!
All the best on your English GCSE!! Please come back and tell how it went.

i struggled with english but ended up with a 7 from like a 4/5 in mocks and i used quote flashcards (writing quotes on one side and then on the other side expanding them with like meaning and unpicking and stuff) and also mind maps of each charecter and the themes they present and quotes to relate

I did this for macbeth and found it helped me understand what the quotes meant a bit more
