Uni of Manchester Psychology - Still awaiting decision

Hi, I applied for psychology at the uni of manchester, and I'm still waiting for their response. Some other people at my college have had the same problem, just wondering if this is happening to others

I don't know about response times, but if you have another university chose that. Currently doing psychology at Manchester and I would never ever recommend it!

haha, I've just got an offer for it but I'm hoping to get an apprenticeship instead. Why don't you like psychology at manchester?

Mainly the staff. No-one helps, they all plug their own work and like you to reference their work in your assignments. The say the grading is anonymised but the cover sheet they require (mark you down if you don't include) literally has your student number on! They love it when the student kiss their arses, honestly every lecture made me cringe.

They are riding the coattails of other schools within the university being 'world renowned'. I would never recommend it as a school within the university, because as soon as you're stuck with something, you will just get passed to round person to person, and when you finally reach the right department they send you links to pre-made generic videos and help guides.

hey, i’m still trying to decide whether to go to manchester for psychology (vs going to bath) - is the teaching really that bad at manchester? or is it just a couple lecturers that aren’t v helpful?

is the course or assessments at manchester good otherwise?

Hey! Ive just finished my first year at UoM studying the joint honours Neuroscience and Psychology course! I know that everyone's experience is different but I've never been asked by a lecturer to reference their work on an assignment, or had trouble approaching a lecturer if I struggled with the content. I would say that, as with all degrees, there is a certain level of independent study needed which helps when I feel out of my depth during the lectures. There are a couple of lecturers who do deliver their content rather quickly and that was my main issue, but can be bypassed by study techniques such as rewatching recordings or writing lecture notes beforehand- to be able to sit and listen to the words rather than focus on the slides too.

I hope this is helpful! I'd be more than happy to answer any other questions you have either about Manchester or Psych as a whole! just lmk

Heyyy!!!💖💖 I will be joining UoM around September 2024 for BSocSc(Hons) Politics and International Relations. So, do you have any idea how is the department of social sciences? Also, I am planning to combine my course with Criminology, so what is the procedure for that?
