Nottingham vs qmul vs Loughborough

I'm doing Electrical and Electronic Engineering and have gotten offers from all of these Unis but I'm stuck on which one to Firm. Nottingham is much better for EEE due to the rankings. Although Loughborough is overall known to be good for Engineering. Queen Mary is not as good for Engineering but is a well-known institute and is closer to me as it's in London.

Loughborough is better than most russel group unis though and better for engineering.

For engineering it is not a particularly noteworthy institution, nothing wrong about it but id also say it’s not one of the unis with significant engineering output or high numbers of grads landing jobs in the most desirable employers.

My comments were in reference to Queen Mary, which was the uni the post I quoted was discussing.

Loughborough is well respected and has a large faculty with lots of grads moving into all the big companies.

Hello @Vlone3213413312 !

First of all, congrats on your offers!

Making a final decision is definitely difficult as the three universities have both advantages and disadvantages. I would start by assessing a number of indicators in order to make a decision that is as informed as possible.

What particular topics interests about EEE? What university out of the three has ongoing research on those topics specifically? (EEE department at UoN)

What does the campus look like? Is it a good location for you? Is it close enough to your family and friends (or dare I say, far enough?)

What is the course structure like? How are modules assessed? What will you be learning each year?

What do the halls/accommodation look like? How much do they cost? What do you get for that price?

In terms of the EEE-related modules at University of Nottingham you may find the syllabus for each of them right here (and the structure of the entire course too): Module Catalogue
Likewise, other matters such as the careers team (Careers and Employability Service) and the possibility of doing a year in industry, or abroad, are other factors that you can consider so as to ultimately decide.

Do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further queries.

All the best,
Abián.
