The Student Room Group

Did anyone else go to the Brighton and Sussex Medical School open day today?

Did anyone else go and visit BSMS today? What did you think of it?

I wasn't too keen on it to be honest. It seemed as though they'd minimised as many possibilities of socialising with non-medics as possible. All medics are grouped together in halls. I also didn't like how you would be a member of brighton uni and sussex uni. I mean, what student union would you go to? I just thought it would be too confusing.

Plus the open day didn't seem particularly well organised. There was no information on living costs or anything! Plus the information sheets they gave out weren't well written at all, and they were all really badly presented - they had been typed up on microsoft word, some of them in times new roman. Some of them weren't even printed in colour!

What did you think of it?

I didn't but my boyfriend is fourth year there and he loves it (I'm at Sussex).
The med school is quite socially isolated, medics (generally) only hang out and live with other medics. But this can be beneficial when it comes to helping each other out with exams etc. and social/ work balance is easier as you're all in the same boat (ie living with a non-medic can be annoying as they have more time to go out etc. so you might be pressured to do so).

It's more of a big family if anything. If you want to branch out join the societies.
