Medicine ucat

What is the best way to study for the ucat and get a really high score? Is there any good specific resources you can use or videos? Also wondering I got 5A's and 2B's at Nat 5 and I got good grades for my prelims, just wondering if they look at nat 5's when looking at applications as I got a B in chem and computing science ?

Would need to ask someone else for an opinion on your grades but when I studied for the UCAT I just used Medify. Really all the med applicants at my school used Medify and nothing else. Some of us got 3000 and I think those who practiced longer got higher scores. Had a friend who practised 2 weeks and got 2600. But then again this really depends on how you practice. Medify has all the videos you need too. Hope this helps

In the fewest words:

Start now- learn the theory to all of the subsections, get into proper practice after any important exams imo

Buy medify- got tutorials and 20K+ questions
Do your test before school in September, spaces are limited though so act fast- get some valid ID (provisional licence)
YouTuber: Emil Eddy, quick and concise.

Learn an acronym for AR- best way imo.

Try MedEntry too I thought it was really good and most people who used it at my school scored higher with it , personal preference though I imagine

Is medify a good one? Quite a few people recommended it as its affordable and helped them alot

I never used medify so can’t recommend or not reccommend.
I’d say MedEntry was very user friendly had a great dashboard so you can track your progress, I also used the skill trainers a lot and that was useful for improving specific skills e.g speed reading, finding words in text and also for syllogisms.
The questions overall were similar to the actual UCAT exam, i have heard MedEntry AR is harder than medify but on the other sections medify is harder. I got 860 in AR and my friend who also used it got 890 so i know it is effective for that section.

Overall its personal preference and it may be worth testing both or potentially using both if you are starting so early, in order to get a mix of questions.

My advice for UCAT would be just do as many questions as you possibly can, dont spend too much time reviewing and redoing questions as you will likely never see them again anyway. Don’t treat it like a normal exam, it’s not like revision, it’s more like a skill/ game and the only way to improve is lots and lots and lots of practice. Also watch Emil Eddy UCAT to see how the best do it and try and adapt some techniques into your own.

Maybe journal ur improvement as seeing that can motivate you to reach your potential.

Thank you, I'll definitely give it a try

The best two resources I used were Medify and Emil Eddy on YouTube! Personally I found Medify to be quite realistic to the real thing, although I know many recommend MedEntry too. Emil Eddy's videos are brilliant for giving you some ideas for different techniques to try for each section, while I found watching the videos where he goes through a subtest/mock in real time great for understanding the sort of pace I needed to be answering the questions in order to score high.

I'd also suggest not starting too early - it can definitely be tempting to try and get started early, particularly when we all know how important the ucat is in the application process, but you don't want to peak too early! I did around 8 weeks of revision, getting more intense after the first few weeks. Towards the end of practice I found myself feeling very tired and beyond bored of answering the questions that I just wanted to get it done (remember you can always push your exam day back if you dont feel fully prepared)

good luck!!
