The Student Room Group

Pick two out of five please?

Manchester, AAB
York, AAB
Lancaster, ABB
Liverpool, ABB
Chester, CCC

1) City,- cleanliness, shopping, quality of public transport
2) Night life
3) University reputation

^^ Which two would you pick for insurance and your main?

I've driven though both Manchester and Liverpool.
-Manchester; looked really nice, clean, open spaces, modern.
-Liverpool; there were chavs everywhere, almost every street corner I saw,- but then I don't know which area I was in.
My hairdresser said the opposite to what I saw in Liverpool, so idk

Firm- York
Insurance- Liverpool

But this is subject to my own opinions! Havent you visited any of them? Which do you prefer?

Personally?

1st- York
2nd- Lancaster.

But its not up to me.
I'd put York as firm, then Lancaster as insurance.

But this isn't my choice.

I think you would probably be better visiting the universities themselves rather than just a part of the area but if you cant then why not look up student reviews of universities? This really helped me. Theres a few websites that can help such as studential, unistats, whatuni etc...

If you're not keen on Liverpool, then Id go for Lancaster as insurance.

But its personal preference!

Personally, I'd go for either Manchester, York or Liverpool.

I know people at Manchester and Liverpool who absolutely love it. Both cities have some rough and run down areas but the city centre's are generally nice. I also love city living for uni which is why I say these two. The shopping and nightlife is pretty good!
But York is also a gorgeous city. Depends if you want your insurance to have lower grades I guess...

Chester is quite a small city. Very nice but not all that much to do.
Never been to Lancaster so I can't really comment.

Go visit the uni's and cities. See where you feel most at home and where you can see yourself living for 3 years
Haha if you're worried about chavs. Don't come to Manchester

Um, i'd choose York and Lancaster. York being firm.

You have to make your own decisions though.

Manchester and Liverpool are very loud places in comparison to smaller ones (York and Lancaster).
