Dont understand s bit on Scotland independence referendum.

*a

David Cameron just made an emotional speech yesterday and leaders on both sides pleaded for no vote.

He could have just send in the MI5 and arrest alex salmond in the name of treason and throw him to the British equivalent of guantamo bay.

Whats so difficult?

Perhaps because arresting Salmond would cause the UK to be ostracised from the international community and likely cause rioting and extreme civil unrest in Scotland. People don't react well to their rights being taken away

How have you got green gems? :s-smilie:
Amazing how many people on TSR have no understanding of real life what so ever. Must be what happens when you spend every waking moment on the computer

Because he's waiting for the referendum to identify all want Scotland out so he can arrest all of them instead of just one.
I don't think OP was being entirely serious

In fact I think there's a point there. It is a popular refrain of Salmond and the pro-independence parties that the nation isn't 'democratic' et cetera, but if this was really true, why would Cameron not simply have locked Salmond away?

Worked so well in London.

Still unsure how its Treason. The Queen isn't against the vote.
The solution is not to give the SNP more power it is to give it LESS POWER. Brown et al are ****ing idealistic idiots. Stop the Scottish Assembly from making stupid decisions like this which could effect our economy. Higher the god damn voting age so only people who have actually lived in Britain can vote instead of 'omg I went to high school and i was so oppressed by the Englisc' and for christ sake independent Scotland is not just about Scotland, we should have a vote as well since it affects our future.

You assume these people are going to want to put down civil unrest with a legitimate backing.

Perhaps he underestimated Salmond's almost Hitler-like ability to manipulate and deceive. Maybe he thought Scotland would want to stay in the UK but with recent polls he's getting scared?

I think he have the referendum to look like he gives a **** about Scotland and what they want to make him look good, then reposed how bad he'll look if under his power (don't think power is the right word though!) if Scotland leaves.

Would've been much easier if he locked him up though :/

Cue support for independence skyrocketing and the emergence of a Scottish version of the IRA.

By this logic, the rest of the EU should also have a vote on whether the UK gets to leave.

It should.

Alright maybe not arrest him but MI5 surely can just make him 'dissappear' right.

Yep, the First Minister of Scotland can just be 'disappeared' and no-one will care, right?
