All of that's absolutely fine and acceptable, what I don't understand is how you only realised that when visiting it. Genuinely curious, what were you expecting? Also, which group were you in?

If I may add my two cents, the accommodation at UCL was lack luster but accommodation in central London is a steal at £150 a week, specially for south Kensington and Bloomsbury. I doubt you'll ever have that rent in London ever again in your life, plus taking into account whether you'll be able to afford to live there again unless you're a multimillionaire (more relevant for south Kensington than Bloomsbury but I digress)

Ultimately the feel of a university is extremely important, as you'll spend 3/4 years of your life there.it's why some people choose Cambridge over oxford or vice versa, or why some people don't apply to London unis or only apply to them etc...

That said, UCL is an excellent university with great prospects for students with great staff. Don't throw it away just yet, think about it at least a bit.

I was in group A, with majority of other Earth Science fellows.
I set my expectation levels at "Cambridge Level"- in comparison- where I was treated with an elite-standard luncheon and dinner; possibly a tester lecture; a talk with recent graduates and alumni. Cambridge gave me sense of "Educational powerhouse"- pioneering in every aspect- decent student accomodation; innovative lecture rooms, created leaning in direction of modern needs- computer tables. Spacious, secure areas for students; sense of community; sense of place and organisation; well connected with neighbouring fecilities; safety when night falls. Resourceful laboratories; eager staff and students; future prospects.
I set same standards when arriving to UCL (as it ranks itself within European top 5).

I am not saying it is a bad univeristy- it does not match my tastes, and (in my opinion) does not live up to the reputation. I've read wonderful articles by UCL allumni- in sense of resources and media coverage it is superb (I love that aspect), but in aspect of student life, apart from London resources, it is underwhalming.

I know, the price is not a problem- it might be during next year, when finding an affordable spot within radius of UCL would be a fable wish; but they could have at least installed better set of doors, improved the toiletaries and beds. This, surely, is not a billion-pound investment.

UCL would help me getting more than a good job and promises of good salery- but the aspect of second year accomodation and high probability of getting into a debt even when with lowest living standard is a norm I should expect.

Hey, i just got an offer from UCL for Msci Earth Sciences, for AAA, i am doing 4 A2 coures, predicted A*AAA, after looking through the forum i noticed that most people got offers for AAB for the same course has me and for geophysics, i am wondering why they gave me a high offer.

That is surprising, is there anything that you think might make UCL want to give you a more difficult offer? What were your AS grades? Do you go to a private school?

It could be that your a levels perhaps are less scientific. What are you taking?

My AS grades were AAAA, i go to a public school, in fact my school is in a deprived area of London, so i have no idea why they gave me this offer.

possibly but i have geography and chemistry and they say they want two sciences and they take geography has a science, on the offer they said they specifically want the A's in geography and chemistry, as well has my another subject, they did not say anything about the fourth a level.

I'd say that's probably why. Geography is probably the least important (in my view) and supposedly 'easier' in comparison to other sciences. Mine was AAB but I'm doing four sciences at A2. Where else did you apply?

What's that about the tap water?!
Sorry for replying late, I have been busy with homework and tests. When i received an invitation to an applicant day, they told me to bring some tap water from home, and they did some tests, and found out that it has a neutral pH and has a bit of arsenic  xD

It clearly sounds like one! Well done! This is from Royal Holloway? I am still veary regarding going there.

Yes, it is from Royal Holloway. You should visit the university, the park around the main building is so beautiful! Also, the people in the department are very friendly, and I can tell you that they love pizza hehe!

Probably, but i see geography has a good physical science aswell as a social science, the word means writing about the Earth, it does cover topics such has plate tectonics and other geomorphology topics, but it is a easy A-level.

I applied to:
Southampton-Geology- Interview
Royal Holloway-Geoscience- Interview
Kingston-Geology- 260 points ( Insurance )

Manchester-Earth Sciences- Nothing yet

I understand where you're coming from as the subjects are the basis of earth science except they do teach from basics as they assume no prior knowledge.

Which is your first choice?

Really weird... it could be because of the lack of Physics or Maths but it would surprise me to be honest.

With all due respect, I really don't think you can call Geography A-Level a physical science!

I understand what you are saying but i would have to disagree with you 100%, geography is a physical and social science because those are the two things that make up all studies about the world and the people that live on it, sure it is not the most complex subject but it does draw many similarities with studies in Earth sciences. It is classified as a natural science by many universities and official websites, for example the QS world university ranking site, puts geography under natural sciences.

At degree level maybe if you specialise in physical geography, but I really think you're pushing it by claiming that the scientific content of A Level Geography is comparable to, for instance, Chemistry or Physics.
Hey, I'd just like to pop in and say I've completed a degree in Earth Sciences and A level geography really was not that useful. The core sciences are more relevant, and therefore preferred. This may explain the difference between some offers.

Same here. AAA offer for MSci, I was predicted A*AA for maths, chem and physics respectively. Not sure why I didn't get AAB, was sorta hoping for that.

Also I got an offer from Royal Holloway but I haven't attended the Applicants Day yet. Is this possible or is it a computer error?

Hey everyone. I'm on 4/5 offers. I was wondering if anyone else applied to Liverpool and how long it took you to get your offer?
I got a President's Scholarship from Imperial! So happy!!
