Different unis have different entry requirements. So you probably need an A* at A Level to get into Oxbridge. But I know of one maths degree that you need only an E to get into (this was a few years ago. It's possible it has increased). So uni E is starting from a lot lower level. The students there are likely to need a lot more time and explanation for each topic. They're also less likely to do effective private study, because of they could study will on their own they would have got higher grades at A Level.

Since degrees are only 3 years long, uni E is going to teach fewer topics and possibly to a lower standard. Maths is maths, but the students aren't capable of studying to the same standard. So the degrees will not end up being the same.
