4sin^2x + cos x = 4-k
cos x = 4 -k - 4sin^2x
cos x = 4 -k -4(1-cos^2x)
cos x = -k +4cos^2 x

then i subbed 3 in as k , made a quadratic and solved

I solved it as a quadratic equation ,4cos quare- cosx-k=0

Since a/(1-r)=162 and a(1-r square)/(1-r)=34
162(1-r square)=34
1-r square =17/81
R square=64/81 ,r=8/9

Yes I think they were my numbers might have just slipped and put the last unit in wrong thanks
