Cool okay. So the cheapest four in terms of price per week are Whitefields, Cryfield, Rootes and Westwood at £81, £83, £97 & £98 respectively. They are very basic decorated, but still nice I think. They have a "studenty feel" I think.
I don't have much experience personally with Cryfield but the few times I have gone in there, I have felt that its a bit crowded and the walls are apparently like paper. There is a big common room and I think toilets are shared between 6.
Rootes is nice too. I know you have kinda ruled it out but if you do want a "quiet block", they do exist on Rootes if you ask specifically (I believe there is a tick box in the application process). They have sinks in their rooms which is a definitely plus. Really central location, close to everything, shops, SU etc. The decor in Old Rootes is a little worn but not noticeably, just a little dated. You'll find the same in Whitefields I think.
Westwood has very nice spacious rooms. It is further out but that does mean you are close to Tescos, which makes the weekly shop a lot easier. To be fair, the walk isn't really that long if you don't mind waking. I am really lazy and like to get up as late as I can push it, so it wasn't for me. But a lot of people take bikes and unless you are doing Life sciences which is slightly off campus up Gibbet Hill, it isn't really an issue. I have heard rumours that if you put Westwood down at all on your application, you automatically get it, but that might be a rumour, maybe something to bare in mind. But if you do get it in the end, don't be too upset.
Whitefields was the hall I stayed. I posted some pictures of the rooms, if you are inclined to see what it looks like. Its like a little house, so you have the house with 7 bedrooms at the bottom and 5 bedrooms at the top. 12 to a kitchen. It has a common room with a table and draws in which was really nice. Super central, a second away from the shop/pub/SU/Bar/Social area. Rooms are shaped oddly but that gives them a surprisingly good size.
Tocil, Heronbank, Lakeside, Sherbourne, Jack Martin, Arthur Vick & Bluebell are the other choices.
Tocil was postgraduate only this year, so I can't tell you very much about it at all really. The location is really central from what I remember, you'd be a minute or two from lectures on the main campus.
Heronbank, never been, seems a bit out of the way though. Cheaper option for a 39 week let (longer let) ensuite than Bluebell. Pretty much the same can be said for Lakeside, I think its mainly postgraduates. Its quite recently done so nice decor.
Sherbourne - Very nice rooms and kitchens, out of the way a bit, good atmosphere. Key fobs to get in which people say limits the ability to go make friends with other kitchens but I doubt its actually has that much effect. Heron bank, Lakeside & Sherbourne are slightly further off campus in a little bubble, its probably less than a 10/5 minute walk and there is a shuttle if you really need it.
Arthur Vick has nice big kitchens. Rooms are ok, with ensuite. People say it tends to be quiet but it really depends. Shorter let means you have to vacate your room during the breaks.
Jack Martin is a nice, good location very close to everything, big kitchens, people say it is more social than AV. Super popular, might be a bit of a gamble, same with AV. Shorter let again, is annoying.
Bluebell is v. nice, good location, nice views but from my experience is extremely unsociable. Its also really expensive and I don't think many people find it worth the money.
I'd say go for the cheaper ones rather than the expensive ones, you'll love wherever you end up.
In your second year, accommodation can be more expensive specially if you chose to live in Leamington so go for a cheaper one and save that money for your 2nd and 3rd year.
Oh and in the about me, be specific, say what your hobbies are, are you a night owl or a morning person. If you don't wanna be with people who party hard, say so. If you wanna socialise with your flatmates a lot, say so. Be very honest
