For the change in sign question I did 1.735 and 1.739 and said 1.737 is in the middle is that right??

Does anybody remember how many marks the sketching arcsin graph was?

2 marks
3 for part b
Original post by TSRPAV
Damm it this question cost me marks, no idea how i did but i got gradient as 10 (think i did 6+4) instead of (6-4) ff,so got the normal as -1/10 but i got y=16 and the method correct, any idea how many marks id lose?

Gradient is worked out by differentiating:

Y=x^2 + 3 + 4(x-2)^-1
( can't remember what B was but B is irrelevant in this question)

dy/dx = 2x - 4(x-2)^-2

If you differential is right then maybe not many marks is lost.

How did you actually do the solve part of the arcsin graph where it was like 3f(x+1)+pi or whatever?

Arcsin(x+1)=pi/3
X+1=root3/2
X=root3/2-1

Partial fractions a was 3 b was 4

Yeah ive seen the answers i want the method, i got it completely wrong as far as i can tell
How many marks was question 6b out of?
What was the thing you had to differentiate in q2??

am i the only one that didn't use partial fractions?

Nah I used algebraic long division

Arcsin(x+1)=pi/3
X+1=root3/2
X=root3/2-1

-pi/3

I used long division + factor theorum, although now i've seen it partial fractions would've been easier

How were there 4 solutions to question 8 after proving it equals cotx?? It was in the range -Pi to Pi

Q1a, x=6, x=-5
b. a=6
2a. dy/dx = (20-4x^2)/(x^2+5)^2
b. x>rt(5) x<-rt(5)
3a. rt(5)cos(theta +26.57)
b. theta = 33.0, 273.9
c. theta = 86.1
4a. y=21, x=ln(2.5)
y=25 (k=25)
b. Proof
c. x1= 1.4368
x2= 1.4373
d. Show the change in sign. (gradient function)
5i. Turning points: 0.9463
ii. 0.5cosec(4y)
6a. A=3 B=4
b. x+2y-35=0 (or equivalent)
7a. arcsin(x) graph
b. x= -(2+rt(3))/2
8a. Proof
b. x= 0.294, -1.277, 1.865 and 1 more I think
9a. 6.740
b. Proof
c. T = 5ln(2+(2/e))

what was Q 1a?
Am I the only one who got +root20 -root20 for the inequality one :biggrin:

Does anyone know what question 1 was?

How did people do q1😭

substitute the function g into f, didn't it ask for fg(x)?

Nah I used algebraic long division

did you remainder end up like so

4x+12

4(x+3)/(x+3)(x-2)

so 4/x-2

Arcsin(x+1)=pi/3
X+1=root3/2
X=root3/2-1

Arcsin = -pi/3.

what was Q 1a?

What did all of question 1 involve i cant remember😂
Hoping the grade boundary to be lower. Last question was horrible so lost 5 or 6 marks, so I'm hoping I just managed to get an A* :frown:
My sister just sat this exam and she realised afterwards that she completely missed out the last question because she didn't see it.

Will this be catastrophic if she wants a high A?
