Yes, but you're notation is a bit wrong, first line in red. Drop the sigma and just write a1+a2+a3 a_1 +a_2 + a_3
You're answers are fine. Also, for future reference, when you have 6k2+8k+2=0 6k^2 +8k+2 = 0 you can divide through by 2, so that 3k2+4k+1=0 3k^2 +4k + 1 = 0 it might be easier to factorise.
