The only thing that exists in the universe is matter.

The only thing that exists in the universe is matter, atoms.
Nothing exists but matter.
There is nothing "spiritual" in the universe- god, gods, spirits, souls, ghosts.
Hence ALL religions, superstitions are nothing but "spiritual" nonsense.

"Materialism is the belief that matter is the only thing that exists and that all things can be reduced to matter (and energy since matter is a form of energy). Therefore, materialism would state that all things in the universe, including mankind, are necessarily restricted to operate within the bounds of physical laws. The human mind would cease to exist upon death because the physical brain ceases to function. Materialism would deny the continuation of the mind after deat".

nah
You've clearly never heard of antimatter then.

ALL religions are nothing but 100% made up "spiritual" nonsense from A to Z.
All "spiritual" nonsense.

Antimatter is a form of matter, as contradictory as that may seem.

well OP seems have defined it to mean atoms, so
How do you describe energy?

Atoms in motion.

Atoms in motion.

Hmm that's interesting- can all energy be described by particles in motion? I guess EM is photon movement, not sure how you would be able to define electrostatic/ gravity but who knows (gravitons?)

Still worth making that distinction imo.

That's not the point.
Your focusing on the unimportant.

The point is that all "spiritual" teachings, religions and suprerstitions like astrology are all 100% made up spiritual nonsense.

If E=mc^2 then in a way, light and matter are two of the same.
Does it really matter?

Interesting argument though.

probably, depends on what you mean by spiritual really. If you mean "effects on the human body" well placebo effect is still effect and if we or anyone feels any effect then it has a materialistic explanation (electric signals in the brain etc) It does sound very contrived to suggest, for example, Iron grows from the Earth upon receiving rays from Mars, but we always keep on discovering new phenomena that it's a bit difficult to discredit it completely.

Funnily enough, what you're saying is only even slightly valid if you disregard absolutely everything that physics has worked out in the last hundred or so years.

Science has to retain an open mind, just as the religions do. Quantum mechanics makes provisions for something you might describe as spirituality, and the notion of a holographic universe also provides for the existence of higher beings, especially if our universe is a simulation.

Go away and do it again.

Are you f**king kidding me?.

It's what matters most.
Look at the destruction religion which is nothing but made up "spiritual" nonsense is creating in the world.

That joke went waaay over your head it seems.

Wait I thought E=mc^2 describes gain in mass of an accelerating body- not an expert in relativity though

Woah calm down, it's just a joke.
Religion is religion. Let us leave it at that. This is about what matters; matter.

Let's think about this.
What is matter?

"That which occupies space and possesses rest mass, especially as distinct from energy."What can be matter?
Can everything be matter?

What is the matter with matter being matter?

Have we discovered everything that there possibly could be? Is dark energy/matter real? Will we ever find it?

I am not going to "go away" and " do it again" because unlike what you are saying physics, even the most theoretical isn't talking about "spiritual" things.
