Make sure you cover everything in the specification syllabus because the revision guides don't cover everything.
IQ is not important. Just put the work in, read the syllabus/revision guides/everything your teacher tells you. Full marks is a high thing to aim for but you can do it if you're willing to put the effort in and learn everything you need to.
Revision guides will teach you the content needed for the exam, however exams (especially science ones) are increasingly asking you to apply this knowledge to different situations.
