New A levels that should be introduced

I was thinking that there should more of an initiative to do newer and non-traditional subjects. I decided to make so suggestions for other A levels that could be introduced:

A level Carpentry
A level Biomedical Engineering
A level Medicine
A level Astronomy
A level Theoretical Physics
A level Policy
A level Life Skills
A level Further Further Maths
A level Osteopathy

Imagine if this was true and someone chose maths, further maths and further further maths lol 😆
These so sound cool I would definitely take one of these.

It would definitely fit for if you wanted to do Maths at uni lol.
I wished we did only one Alevel that can get you in uni.

If you do one A level on it's own then you might as well just do it in one year.

Yh. But the Alevels I do, I enjoy it.

A level Further Further Maths

Additional Further Maths (a third maths A level) was available for exams until summer 2018 and is for resits in summer 2019.
Only tiny numbers of students chose to take it, around 70 took Edexcel AFM in 2018.
After careful review leading to the new specification it was determined that there was no need for a Further Further Maths A level.
You should also note that the problem with these overly specialised A-levels is that they don't really open up your options much, unlike more traditional subjects such as the sciences. Also you have to keep in mind that with these you'd have to go from doing 10 general GCSEs to 3/4 very specific A levels, I dont think many people are that sure of what they want to do straight after GCSEs.

Not even mentioning problems with existing specialized A levels (I've talked before about these, things such as Marine Biology..), such as lack of schools / resources, universities maybe not recognising them.

About theoretical physics as I'm personally very interested in physics, how would the math content be done? There's lot's of advanced math that im not sure belongs in an A level, also how much of it would overlap with normal physics? Something I'd personally like to see is "Further" subjects that arent math, eg. Further Computing, as I really like computing but I feel like the current A level is a bit of a joke when it comes to actual computer science.
Vocational a levels exist. What would be the point of a a level medicine unless you were going to do it at university?

It would prepare you for university. If you really wanted to do medicine at university this would fit perfectly with your choices.
It would be good to have more options.
I cant imagine many 6th forms doing a-level carpentry though.

The idea behind them is that if you are really sure about doing what you want to do at uni you now have the option to do them. Physicists that have nothing to chose but chemistry benefit very little and subject themselves to a pretty hard subject. I they chose something like theoretical Physics A level. Then that burden could be taken of them. People who go into politics Have to submit themselves to doing English when they could take something like A level Policy.

Marine Biology is difficult to teach because very few Biologists actually know about it. Things like A level policy, Theoretical Physics and Astronomy will definitely be remembered by Physics and Politics teachers because they are embedded into university course. Besides, this is simply an option and not something a school has to take up. If these A levels are introduced this could increase the growth of the market for education and people could learn about these with very little help from their teachers.

I am not too sure about theoretical Physics concepts but some things that can definetly be put there are things like vector analysis and special relativity as well as 1D Schrodinger equation problems. Very little of the Theo Physics A level would overlap, apart from one of the options of AQA Physics.

It would be quite rare but perhaps certain textbooks can be used to self teach the entire course.

I could imagine some colleges teaching it though (people do do a-levels at college after all). I just cant imagine 6th forms doing it.
I came up with more A Level subjects:

A level Engineering
A level Gender Studies
A level Further Further Further Maths
A level Further English
A level Further Philosophy
A level Problem Solving
A level Further Sociology
A level Feminism
A level Austrian Economics
A level Baking
I would’ve done A-Level Medicine, so many people in our college would’ve as well

Of course, we need to spread the truth.
I guess that it would be a more condensed and simplified version of the uni course. More chemistry based than normal bio.

Lots of these are just BTECs. And theres a reason some subjects are only available at uni and not A level
