What science jobs are there? Dk whether to take maths bio and chemistry
Hi so I need to choose a level options soon and I have no idea what job I want to do so it’s quite hard to decide on this. I really want to take french but I also do quite like sciences and if I take french as an option I’ll be limited in the scientific field. So I’ll either be taking maths french& something else (maybe psychology) or maths chemistry and biology. I like sciences but I just don’t know what science jobs I’d want to do (eg dentist-good money&hours but doesn’t sound so fun&my mum is a gp and has kinda put me off being a doctor), i mean idk what job I’d want to do full stop. Also, I thought french would be appreciated if i wanted to go into a business related job? So please could you let me know what kind of scientific jobs you can go into but also maybe jobs you could go into with a french degree? Tyvm

In terms of science jobs, there is a wide range out there! It might be worth looking into career profiles of different sectors (try https://www.prospects.ac.uk/job-profiles) and seeing which appeals to you the most. By identifying this, you can also set out your path and determine which A-Levels to take.
With a French degree, you could go into teaching, working in France, business, translation services. You could also use this degree to apply for a wide variety of graduate schemes, e.g. accountancy, HR, retail.
If you have access to a careers advisor at school, arranging a meeting to discuss your options could be a good idea too.

You could look at a degree which lets you take some French classes and have a year in France - great option if you do A level French but dont want to do a full languages degree.

Oh yeh that’d be good, but then if I did french a level it would limit me to the sciences so that’s why I’m not sure.

AS perhaps? Try looking at some university courses which might interest you to see what they require.

Hiya so if you're not sure exactly what part of Science you want to go into, definitely consider the Fast Stream! We have a specialist 'Science and Engineering' track that's designed precisely for people who love science and also want to work across a wide range of areas.
The entry requirements are quite broad and for this particular stream. You can apply with a 2:1 in any undergraduate degree subject, but on top of that you do need to hold a doctorate or masters in a biological, physical, mathematical science or engineering subject (or be a registered engineer or scientist already!)
If you decide that going into pure science isn't for you, there's still a chance to work on science-related things as a Generalist Fast Streamer. I've got friends who have been working on the UK's space research policy, on funding for science projects, and on agricultural science, even without having studied a single science subject at A Level!
So basically, if you are dead set on science then taking science subjects may make the most sense, but there are options out there that don't require you to study science at University if you don't want to!

PwC accepts students from all backgrounds in terms of study so I would recommend choosing what you think you will enjoy the most! We have clients from across the spectrum and therefore whatever your background knowledge (in biology, chemistry, psychology or French) it will have relevance and can be applied to some of the work you would be doing.
However, some programmes at PwC do have specific requirements in terms of a UCAS tariff also include a GCSE English Language and Mathematics minimum grade for school and college leaver roles. If you are interested in any of the Technology Flying Start Degree programmes for example, each university has specific requirements for what A-levels you need to have chosen.
