Now I realise that there is a lot of competition. Man I got way lower than you.
I got BBCD and predicted ABB. Ukcat was 440. I am resitting some modules. I can never get into it man.
    Ohh :/
    You never know! Have hope.
and if not you can always apply next year!! (take a gap year)

hey, i wanted to ask you, roughly what GCSE grades should you get to be considered for kings. I got 1 A* and 5 As and 4Bs in GCSEs, would that be considered acceptable if my A levels are really good too? (for medicine)

I think you need excellent scores for all else like if you want to compensate for your GCSE, I guess it isn't impossible but to be frank it does put you at a disadvantage

    Hi,

I really want to apply for KCL for medicine, but my GCSE may let me down. I got 2A*, 2A, 6B and 1C.
If I get excellent AS grades, top A2 and high UKCAT, would I still be considered?

    Thanks.

Does that mean that King's College London do not really look at GCSE - only A-Levels?

Please help with honest opinions and only comment if you are a medical applicant yourself or a medical student.

you have to meet the GCSEs requirement aswell( I think a minimum of grade b in English language ) so strictly speaking GCSEs are important and they do state there is some sort of sliding scale all the time.

I have heard, but cannot be certain, that kings give out their interviews based on gcse grades and ukcat score. This was last year so I am not sure if it has changed. Last year a high number of gcse a* and 720+ ukcat was needed APPARENTLY. If you really want to apply to kings then definitely apply because this is based on something I read on student room when I was applying and it could be wrong. When you look overall, top AS grades is all a's which most applicants will have and the a2 predictions as long as it is about aaa (or more) should be fine to apply. High ukcat will be really impressive! But don't not apply based on what you read on student room if you really want to go to kings! (No one knows exact details. We could all be very wrong whether we are a med student or not!) Try emailing/calling the admission centre to see if they give you any more info.

Thanks. Don't King's College London use sliding scale where if you have better UKCAT you can compensate for your poor GCSE?

No, as long as you score well in biology, chemistry and maths you should be fine.

Hi guys, I'm just going into 2nd year doing medicine at King's. If you've got any questions about applying or the course, feel free to ask.

How important are GCSE's? If i have good A levels and a high UKCAT will this compensate for weaker GCSE's?

My AS grades were BCCC ( biology, chemistry, physics and maths ) with predictions of AAAB respectively.
    GCSE 6A* 6A
    I got a UKCAT score of 2840 band 2.

i was wondering if this is enough to get an interview?

would love any advice and help, thanks.
