does nothing please you Vin?

I don't. I have no problems at all with how the site is at moment really. Normally changes have been good but I reckon they're concentrating too much on a non-issue at the moment. I wish they'd hurry up and work on the upgrade, the things I've seen there are amazing.

Cool, looking forward to seeing what those things are in the future.

The layout and logo change was just the first thing to spring to mind that received a load of negative comments at the time, but went ahead anyway. I've certainly grown used to it with time, and I like a lot of the new stuff that came with it/got added since. But I still really liked the old look. :frown:

Fair enough. I can't really remember what it used to look like. :colondollar: I remember making absolutely no negative comments with the most recent change though and at the moment I think TSR's one of the best looking forums on the internet. Now if you'll excuse me I have to make some angry faces at vin.

Why not use something like the Firefox addon Stylish to customise the look for TSR? :beard: Assuming no backend features were removed, of course.

tbh no one ever likes big things changing anyway, the old layout probably wouldnt have worked with all this new stuff, shame it took so long to be able to change the colour from that first shade of blue :wtf: ...oh yeah they wanted to make it more like a social networking site :wtf:

I guess it could be said that it looked like every other vBulletin forum out there (not that that's necessarily a bad look). And whoever said it would be right. So I guess the current look has at least given it some originality. :p:

I could do, but then I'd have to give up on using Safari and its awesome Top Sites function. For all I complained about the browser at first, the more recent updates seem to have left it really stable.

It's so weird to scroll down and see names like Toy Soldier and puppy!
I must admit, the older site looks much more easier to refresh. The current version feels somewhat bloated, takes a while to load and can take up enough CPU to cause audio skipping in mplayer on my ancient computer. (And I'm running a pretty low resource window manager) :sigh:

What got me was 'Members: 85,943'. Pretty small compared to what it is now...

not particularly pretty but it was simple and worked:cool:

going even further back http://web.archive.org/web/20041031041602/www.thestudentroom.co.uk/ there were much less subforums, it's really grown

True that.

It still works now.

It was certainly faster, when things were working properly. :p: Though the site isn't so bad now either, not for me at least. I remember it constantly lagging horribly a few years back though.

 at the Artemis Fowl Movie Update thread being in Entertainment. Though in 2004, it was possibly still ontopic. :p:

They need someone with an axe to cull all of the fluff. Sometimes it won't load at all despite the page being downloaded due to a mischievous piece of Javascript. (I assume...) And that sucks.

Have fun AJ.

Cara has yet to reply. I fear she is on a plane to hunt me down :afraid:

I went up to the wards to visit my granny, and then came back down to find desk buried under post-its and charts  (I was away all of 20mins!)......lack of time to ':hmmm:' at you........shall do so now :hmmm:

You can hire Satoko to make traps for... £100
She should get here from Japan in time if Cara's flying in a propeller plane again.
Propeller plane was scary! :afraid:

Evening all :hello: Bruises are coming on nicely - looks like someone battered me :s-smilie:
